RISE is seeking adult volunteer mentors to be matched with a child who has a parent in prison/jail. Mentors meet with children (aged 6-10) once a week for 1 hour at a pre-determined location in Providence, RI. Mentors and kids participate in a variety of 1:1 activities like playing sports and board games, arts and crafts, visiting the library and computer lab, etc. RISE staff is on site each week to coach and support mentors and to do energizing, team-building group activities. Mentors must be 18 or older, go through an initial screening process and attend an initial training session. Mentors are asked to make a 1 year commitment to the program.
