Allegra Weldon

Allegra Weldon, a junior at Southeastern Louisiana University, has taken a leadership role in spearheading a student effort to bring locally, sustainably produced food into her university food services. Allegra moves toward the social, economic, and ecological goals of the project by speaking in university classes about the project, partnering with a national organization, Real Food Challenge, to engage best practices, and meeting with local farmers to create partnerships and build community. She believes supporting local farmers who choose sustainable methods is a great way to create vibrant environments, economies, and communities.

Campus Compact's Professional Development Institute taught me more in 5 days than I would have learned on my own in 2 years!"
