Carrie Ryan, Sewanee: The University of the South, TN

Carrie Ryan, a junior at Sewanee: The University of the South, promotes education, responds to the needs of the elderly, and inspires others to serve.  In high school she launched “Bridging the Generations” to foster relationships between local youth and senior citizens.  Carrie’s commitment to youth and the elderly has continued in her activities at Sewanee through founding and leading programs and courses for both groups and in recruiting over 100 University students to serve as well.  She has also participated in two studies and has shared the results of her research here and in national meetings.

Campus Compact's workshops have been extremely valuable. Faculty often become energized by the workshop content and bring that enthusiasm back to campus."
