Claire Bergren, Augsburg College, Minnesota

Claire Bergren, a junior at Augsburg College, is deeply engaged in work around racial justice and social issues linked to poverty. Through the Bonner Leader Program, Claire engages directly with a community organization in North Minneapolis to do community organizing and community based research around educational opportunities for students in low income neighborhoods. Claire has taken her experience and knowledge to expand ways of working in the community to get to the root of political and social inequalities. Claire will continue to work in North Minneapolis this summer training student-leaders to work on issues of inequality and public policy, while also pursuing an internship in the Minnesota capital for the next academic year.

Campus Compact's Professional Development Institute taught me more in 5 days than I would have learned on my own in 2 years!"
