Edrees Arzomand, Stony Brook University, NY

Edrees Arzomand, a junior at Stony Brook University, is a student leader focusing on enriching the surrounding environment by fostering a sense of community and enhancing the student life experience through service. By implementing non-profit capacity building projects, Edrees supports local non-profit organizations including Relay for Life, the Long Island State Veterans Home, the American Heart Association and many more. For the past three years, with his positive approach, he mobilizes his peers to get engaged in the community, continually expanding the institutional culture of community engagement.

When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.'
