Jennifer Howell, Humboldt State University, CA

Jennifer Howell, a junior at Humboldt State University, has been actively involved in combating hunger in our community. Through her project, Halting Hunger in Humboldt and partnering with the local food bank, she has been able to educate others about hunger issues and how they can act to instill change. Over the past three years she has given hunger education workshops to over 250 students, raised over 8,000 lbs of food, handed out fresh produce and seed starts to those facing hunger, and engaged schools and community gardens in planting an extra-row of produce to donate to those in need.

Campus Compact's workshops have been extremely valuable. Faculty often become energized by the workshop content and bring that enthusiasm back to campus."
