Kaitlin Greene, a junior at Willamette University, is a student leader active in addressing the issues of hunger and food insecurity. Through an internship with the Marion-Polk Food Share, she works on the Women’s Work project, connecting women within the Marion and Polk counties and empowering them to share knowledge and learn skills from one another with the goal of ending their hunger and poverty. On campus, she facilitates countless service opportunities for her fellow students to learn about and actively address hunger and poverty in their community.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC.
