Lesley Vandemark excels in service both to River Valley Community College and to the larger community. Her contributions to the larger community include several Phi Theta Kappa activities such as: Student Ambassador for new student Orientation; representative at the New England Regional PTK Conference; the Better World Books collection; and the annual holiday food drive. She led the RVCC Turning Points “Steppin Up” annual walk to raise awareness of domestic abuse. This led to an invitation from Turning Points to develop and lead an eight week writing workshop for victims of abuse at the county prison in Unity NH.

Leslie Vandemark, River Valley Community College, NH
I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC.
