Scott Andrews, University of Rhode Island, RI

Scott Andrews, a junior Political Science major at the University of Rhode Island, is deeply involved in addressing two main issues: affordable housing and increasing youth participation in politics. He is an active citizen who understands that in order to address the root cause of an issue you must first pay attention to what is happening around us. Mr. Andrews works diligently to motivate his peers and others to become civically engaged in politics and service. He is a student leader in several student organizations and has participated on two Alternative Spring Break trips to the gulf coast.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC."
