Sophia Trimboli, a third year International Relations student at San Francisco State University, is co-founder of Bridge Nicaragua, a campus NGO that provides computers and training to a small village in Nicaragua. She also developed a class research project on international mass communication into a media literacy project for high school students, making them more aware of international issues through media production. She is also active in collegiate forensics at the regional and national level where she speaks about solutions to social and political issues, encouraging students to make a difference in their national and global communities.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC.
