Grace Fisher, New College of Florida

Grace Fisher, a second year student at New College of Florida, is a student leader actively pursuing ways to connect in-class learning of Sociology to real-world outcomes. During her first year at the college, Grace volunteered with the Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness and the Resurrection House drop-in center. Grace worked with community members to synthesize data and help create the ten-year plan to end homelessness in Sarasota. Grace has coordinated clothing and food drives, volunteered with food pantries, and committed many hours to after-school tutoring and mentoring.

Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way."
