Margarita Valdez, a second year student at Bergen Community College, started a Volunteer Committee on campus and re-started the Community Services Club. She serves in the Learn to End Hunger Initiative by helping others fill out the Food Stamp Application and the N.J. “One App,” and by leading fundraising and food drives for the food pantry on campus.

Margarita Valdez, Bergen Community College
I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC.
