Michelle Sayles, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania

Michelle’s focus is primarily environmental issues. She led several new initiatives as part of the Off-Campus Advisory Council to help students and community members realize that their human impact has an environmental impact. She started and leads the Environmental Action Committee, which has over 60 students active in projects such as community gardening, composting and creek and trail clean ups.  As an artist, Michelle has also used her art to raise awareness about issues such as the impact fracking has on the environment and the waste caused by bottled water.

Campus Compact's Professional Development Institute taught me more in 5 days than I would have learned on my own in 2 years!"
