Since 2008, when Tara first entered Our Lady of the Lake College, she has worked to advance youth rights, to serve families losing loved ones, to support children with disabilities or cancer-related diseases, and to speak out for abused and neglected children. Her community involvement has far exceeded the 600-hour volunteer commitment, and her AmeriCorps Students in Service position has assisted numerous non-profits in the Greater Baton Rouge area, including Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Boys Hope/Girl Hope, East Baton Rouge parish schools, the Up ‘Til Dawn Student Organization, and St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Campus Compact's workshops have been extremely valuable. Faculty often become energized by the workshop content and bring that enthusiasm back to campus.
