Tyler Thompson, Fort Hays State University

Through his roles as Student Body President at Fort Hays State University, Chair of the Student Advisory Committee for the Kansas Board of Regents and the Executive Committee of the National Campus Leadership Council, Tyler Thompson has been a strong advocate for college students. He sought to improve campus health and safety and cooperated with other student body presidents to promote additional public and political support for higher education.  Tyler has also volunteered with the American Red Cross, Kansas DECA, FHSU’s College of Business and Leadership’s Food for Thought Initiative, Up ’til Dawn fundraiser for Saint Jude’s Research Hospital, Ellis County Spelling Bee, the BIG Event-Big Creek Clean Up Day, FHSU’s Regional Science and Engineering fair, the Topeka YMCA after-school program and the San Diego Food Bank.

Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way."
