Alejandra Moncayo, a junior at Stony Brook University, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering degree and anticipates graduating in May 2014. Alejandra is one of the most devoted members of the Stony Brook community and a true leader among her peers. As the President of Oxfam International, comprised of high-achieving students on campus, Alejandra leads and helps organize various service projects including the Annual Stony Brook University Oxfam America Hunger Banquet, coordinated with SBU Undergraduate Colleges. She proudly supports all programs and groups’ new ideas with a main mission to fight hunger and poverty, both nationally and internationally. Her experience in Stony Brook Medical Center as a volunteer and medical translator, her role as a Children’s Ministry Worker, her leadership roles, and her outstanding research outshine many seniors in our university. Through her professional interactions with faculty, staff and community organizations, Alejandra can easily impress others as a highly motivated, hard-working student who will become a successful physician.
