Alexandra Mastro, a junior Physician Assistant Major at Gannon University, has shown leadership on and off-campus and has demonstrated an intelligent, mature, articulate, and compassionate commitment to local, national, and international social problems and mutually-beneficial solutions. Lexie encourages her peers to begin with service and philanthropy activities and to move into advocacy and organizing to effect change at a larger level. Her significant contributions include: robust participation in direct service and research for the Erie-Gannon Alliances to Improve Neighborhood Sustainability initiative; peer leadership for the Catholic Relief Services Ambassador program projects on human trafficking awareness and advocacy, fair trade campus organizing, and conflict in the Congo awareness program; and Operation Safety Net health care for the homeless internship. During her time at Gannon, Lexie has grown in her understanding of social responsibility and is poised to take her public problem solving to another level when she pursues graduate work and a career in Physician Assistant Science.

Alexandra Mastro, Gannon University
Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way.
