Lucy Virgo, a Master of Social Work (MSW) student at Barry University, is deeply involved in addressing social issues in the local community. She translates her passion for community involvement, advocacy and leadership in her present position as Program Director at The Center for Positive Connections, a support and resource center for individuals infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. Lucy’s own journey of living with HIV has led her to commit her life’s work to a forgotten population. Her vision is the eradication of stigma and discrimination through informed action and collaboration. Lucy believes that through education, communities and individuals can be transformed. Accordingly, education is the focus of her community-based work even as she pursues her advanced degree in Barry’s School of Social Work.
