Rachel Abendroth, Dartmouth College

Throughout her four years at Dartmouth, Rachel Abendroth ’13 has sustained a deep and committed engagement with the community through service that is a model to her peers. Rachel serves as student director of the Outdoor Leadership Experience Mentoring Program (OLE), which she joined as a mentor in the fall of her freshman year. Through OLE, Dartmouth student volunteers engage middle and high school students in various outdoor activities as a means to develop social skills and build self-esteem. Rachel also volunteers and leads Dartmouth’s Special Olympics Program, a program she has been involved with her entire four years at Dartmouth. Her other service involvement has included leading the North Country Weekend early college awareness program; and volunteering with the ASPIRE playgroup for children with autism, the DREAM Mentoring program, the Students Fighting Hunger weekly community dinners, and the annual Day of Caring. Rachel is also a member and philanthropy chair of the Sigma Delta Sorority. Rachel is a passionate, professional and committed volunteer who has a gift for collaboration and leadership. The level of energy and skill Rachel has invested into making positive change in her community through her service work is truly extraordinary.

Thanks for your continued outstanding leadership at Campus Compact. Your publications and programs are always top-notch. I sincerely appreciate all you have done for us in the trenches."
