Rachel Sider, a junior at Middlebury College, is actively involved in issues of migration in surrounding Vermont communities and beyond. For the past three years she has been deeply involved with Juntos Migrant Outreach, a student volunteer organization that strives to meet the needs of the local Latin American migrant farm worker population of Addison County, VT. As a leader of this initiative, she has worked to foster dozens of relationships between college students and neighboring migrant communities through social and educational programs. More recently, Rachel has extended her passion for this work to the international level, advocating for increased humanitarian aid and global response to the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, which has affected much of the region politically, economically, and socially. Her experience promoting social justice in whatever community she inhabits prepares her well for a career in international development and refugee assistance.
