Sonya Clairborne, Ivy Tech Community College- Lafayette

Sonya Claiborne plans a May 2013 graduation from Ivy Tech Community College – Lafayette. Her keen leadership capabilities are demonstrated by the active roles she takes in student life at our college and in the community. As a student ambassador, Sonya has conducted campus tours for students and a variety of visitors to the college; represented Lafayette at the statewide-wide Ivy Tech Student Leadership Conference; and has participated in events sponsored by Tippy Connect, an organization for young professionals in Tippecanoe County, as one of our student representatives to the group. Sonya’s leadership talents are recognized and valued by her student peers in that they elected her president of the Student Government Association. Sonya possesses determination, passion and creativity – all of which are among the basic ingredients for a successful career in business and service to the community.

Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way."
