Thank you for making a recommendation for the 2012 Newman Civic Fellows Awards. Each Campus Compact member institution may recommend one student for the award. Recommendations must come from the institution’s president or chancellor. All recommendations must be received no later than Tuesday, February 28, 2012 (DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 2/28). The student your institution recommends will become a Newman Civic Fellow, representing your college or university. And once they are named as a Fellow, they will remain a Fellow throughout their academic career and beyond. A certificate of award for the student named will be mailed to your office for distribution and a notice sent to your Campus Compact state director, if available.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC.
