Alexis Kropf, Southwestern University, TX

Alexis Kropf, a junior at Southwestern University, has taken the “think global, act local” mantra to heart, especially in projects geared towards health.  Alexis volunteers with her University’s community garden and with Central Texas’ Lone Star Circle of Care community clinic system.  She has also helped lead efforts by the Southwestern Rotaract Club to raise money and awareness for Partners In Health following the Haitian earthquake.  Alexis is an engaged member of the University community, known for her global perspective and dedication to mindful service work.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC."
