Amanda Manzella, Manchester Community College, NH

Ms. Amanda Manzella became President of the Alpha Pi Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Manchester Community College during the fall semester 2010. Amanda has transformed the somewhat inactive program, to an actively engaged group focused on meaningful service in the community. An example of some of the Chapters accomplishments are a Hat and Mitten Drive, Valentines and Bingo for Veterans, a Sock Drive, Relay for Life, and a Leadership Seminar for college students and area high school honor societies. Ms. Amanda Manzella, in her calm and gentle way, has met the challenge and started a revolution at MCC.

The Swearer Award has provided me with such an incredible venue for advocacy. At Penn, I've had the chance to speak to faculty, students, and alumni who are interested more than ever in supporting the civic mission of higher education."

-Mei Elansary, University of Pennsylvania, recipient of Campus Compact's Swearer Student Humanitarian Award
