Andrew Friedlund, Albright College, Pennsylvania

Andrew Friedlund, a junior at Albright College, works on service and social change both globally and locally. He spearheaded projects including “The Ride for Marale,” biking 4,200 miles to raise funds for a desperately needed water well in Marale, Uganda as well as the campus Walk for Water. In addition to participating in missions/relief teams for Haiti, Honduras, Louisiana and West Virginia, he volunteers as a mentor with Hope’s Hangout, The Opportunity House and Goodwill Good Guides in the local community.

The Swearer Award has provided me with such an incredible venue for advocacy. At Penn, I've had the chance to speak to faculty, students, and alumni who are interested more than ever in supporting the civic mission of higher education."

-Mei Elansary, University of Pennsylvania, recipient of Campus Compact's Swearer Student Humanitarian Award
