Jamie Diehl, Montana State University, Montana

Jamie Diehl, a junior at Montana State University, is actively involved in youth and education issues. Through a Campus Corps AmeriCorps position, Jamie leads the HOPA Mountain Youth Leadership Program.  In this capacity Jamie provides opportunities for youth to strengthen their leadership skills. Jamie also serves as the president of Students of MEA-MFT and president of the Phi. U Honorary Service Organization.  As a future teacher, Jamie is passionate about public education.  This passion has led Jamie to being a part of the National Education Association’s Women’s Issues Committee.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC."
