Nick Tyger, Washington & Jefferson College, Pennsylvania

Nick Tyger, a junior at Washington & Jefferson College, is the Founder of Presidents’ without Borders, a student organization committed to actively introducing the students of Washington & Jefferson College to global areas that are generally underserved and underrepresented in the field of medicine, while providing opportunities for personal and scholastic growth. This group aims to shape future professionals, both in medical and non-medical professions, as empathetic global citizens. Nick will be going on his third medical mission trip this summer and will be scouting future sites for medical missions to expand his work into Peru. He is a valued member of the Washington & Jefferson community and recognized student leader on campus.

I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC."

-Amanda Coffin, University of Maine at Farmington, Campus Compact student leader
