Rebekah Stern, a second year Corporate Communications major at Carlow University, has dedicated herself to achieving a vision for both our University and our Pittsburgh community which focuses on the tenet that all people should be able to achieve success in life. She tries daily to accomplish this vision by developing programs that fulfill the mission statement of providing those facing adversity strong and enduring one-to-one mentoring relationships. By providing University mentorship opportunities and through her work with Big Brothers Big Sisters, she has seen at-risk high school and college students grow in confidence, avoid risky behaviors, and achieve educational successes.

Rebekah Stern, Carlow University, Pennsylvania
I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism--that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC.
-Amanda Coffin, University of Maine at Farmington, Campus Compact student leader
