Brief Biography:
Elizabeth Lynn is the founder of the Project on Civic Reflection, a national program that fosters and supports civic reflection—the activity of reading and discussing short pieces of literature as a means of reflecting on central questions about civic engagement. This simple practice, with deep roots in the humanities, can help with team building, personal development, and integrating civic work (service learning) with academic content. It is adaptable for a wide range of topics and groups, including faculty, students, community partners, and civic engagement administrators. Elizabeth Lynn holds a Ph.D. with distinction in Religion and Literature from the University of Chicago. She is the co-editor, with Adam Davis, of The Civically Engaged Reader, an anthology of readings on civic engagement. An experienced presenter, Lynn has led seminars, conducted workshops, trained facilitators, and spoken at conferences of many regional and national organizations, including Campus Compact, the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, the Federation of State Humanities Councils, Donors Forum of Chicago, and the Community Investment Network.
