Brief Biography:
Josef Hellebrandt is associate professor of Spanish and department chair in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Santa Clara University. His research interests focus on service-learning in Spanish and civic engagement. He is co-editor of Learning the Language of Global Citizenship: Service-Learning in Applied Linguistics (Anker, 2007; with Adrian Wurr), of Juntos: Community Partnerships in Spanish and Portuguese (Thomson & Heinle, 2003; with J. Arries and L. Varona) and of Construyendo Puentes (Building Bridges): Concepts and Models of Service-Learning in Spanish (AAHE, 1999; with L.Varona). He joined the Campus Compact Service-Learning Consulting Corps in 1999. From 2001-05 he served as Service-Learning Coordinator for the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
