Dear National Service Colleagues:
Earlier today, the full Senate Appropriations Committee reported out legislation recommending $876.5 million for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs for fiscal year 2007, the same figure as approved by the Labor-HHS-Education subcommittee on Tuesday. To see a detailed breakdown of that recommendation, see my budget update of July 18. We will provide a link to a copy of the bill report language as soon as it becomes public. Neither the House nor Senate has scheduled floor action on this spending bill.

A Message from David Eisner
Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way.
