In June, the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees reported out their FY08 Labor-HHS Appropriations bills, which includes funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its core programs. In total, the House Subcommittee provides $843 million for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs, while the Senate passed a higher funding level — $880.9 million. See the included graph for details on specific program funding levels.

Keep awareness of this issue high. Contact your representatives while they are in DC or during recess while they are in their home districts. Invite them to your projects. Remind them how important CNCS funding is. Tell them that you want the Senate version of the appropriations to be passed.

Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way."
