Recent Event: Friends of National Service Awards

On February 12, 2008, Voices for National Service and The Corps Network hosted a reception at Union Station in Washington, D.C. to honor Friends of National Service. Campus Compact sent Kristen Pichler to attend the event.

The content of the program was as follows:

    1. National Service Lifetime Leadership Award

      For a career of extraordinary support for national service.

    3. Citizen Service Award

      Dorothy Johnson, The Ahlburg Company
      Richard Stengel, Managing Editor of TIME
      For investing in the civic health of our nation through support of national service.

      For outstanding leadership and advocacy of national service as a state and federal priority.

Thanks to Campus Compact for all that you have done over the years to nurture the campus service and service-learning movement. When we started at St. A's 15 years ago there was a feeling among some campuses that we were seeing higher education's latest 'flash in the pan.' Instead it was the beginning of a revolution of ideas and relationships, and you guys have been fueling us all the way."
