The day Dr. Thomas Isekenegbe was installed as Cumberland County College’s new president, he stated his goal for the college to join Campus Compact.
Fifteen months later, CCC’s board of trustees gave the green light for the Vineland college to join a state affiliate of the national coalition of 1,000-plus college and university presidents committed to promoting civic engagement and community-based learning.
Before I started working in community service-learning, I was one of those people who didn't have much of a social conscience. Now all of that has changed, and I say, 'Put me in the trenches to do the real work to make a difference.'
