Amy Gibans McGlashan, executive director of Vermont Campus Compact, ascribes the surge of interest in service learning to ‘a confluence’ of factors, among them, a generation of college presidents who came of age in the ’˜60s and are vigorous proponents of civic engagement, and a generation of college students, (‘the millennials’) are known to be civically and globally minded.
