Building stone walls, washing windows, dealing with debris and sorting sports equipment are just a few of the tasks students will tackle Saturday during SUNY Delhi Campus and Community Service Day.

“Our service day gives students real-world experience while connecting them with their community,” said Martha E. Vink, O’Connor Center for Community Service coordinator…

…Campus and Community Service Day coincides with Learn and Serve Challenge Week so that SUNY Delhi students may join thousands across the country volunteering their time.

This week is celebrated by Campus Compact, a coalition of more than 1,000 college and university presidents dedicated to serving the public good.

Before I started working in community service-learning, I was one of those people who didn't have much of a social conscience. Now all of that has changed, and I say, 'Put me in the trenches to do the real work to make a difference.'"
