Stimulus funds pay students to work at RI nonprofits

Forty-four Rhode Island college students are spending the summer helping out at area soup kitchens, art programs and environmental organizations, their $2,000 stipends paid for by federal stimulus dollars….

[Rhode Island] Campus Compact, located at the Rhode Island School of Design, is overseeing the $113,076 in stimulus funds, called the Scholarships for Service Recovery Program, which is part of AmeriCorps, a federal community service program.
