Rhode Island Colleges and Universities are Serious about Learning through Service

Providence, RI — University of Rhode Island, Roger Williams University, and Johnson & Wales University all received recognition for their community service efforts as part of President Bush’s first Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The Honor Roll was announced by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) as part of Campus Compact’s 20th Anniversary celebration in Chicago last week. CNCS is independent federal agency responsible for fostering volunteerism and service across the country through a variety of programs including AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and Learn and Serve America.

Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,000 college and university presidents
