Developing assessment methods for elementary school teachers

Michigan State University - MI, Michigan

Through action research, faculty can help members of the community to develop assessment tools for their own work. When elementary school teachers were looking for methods to assess the efficacy of various teaching methods, a pair of faculty members at Michigan State University helped them out. Working together, the faculty and teachers devised assessment tools for use in three areas: literacy education of first graders, written work of fifth graders, and reflective strategies for novice teachers.
