The Student Empowerment Connection: helping others succeed

Morehouse College - GA, Georgia
Contact Person: Web site: www.empowermentconnection.org

Kevin Kitrell Ross, a student at Morehouse College, wants to help others succeed as he has. Kevin created the Student Empowerment Connection, a large-scale effort to increase educational opportunities for inner-city youth. The organization sponsors an annual Weekend of Empowerment during which 25 to 40 third- and fourth-graders from Chicago s Cabrini Green housing projects are flown to Morehouse to imagine college life for two days. Kevin has also initiated a financial award for college-bound seniors and a day on campus for high school students to learn about college life.
