Repair and landscaping: helping to revitalize the neighborhood

Clemson University - SC, South Carolina
President: Constantine W. Curris

Through a collaborative effort with two neighborhood associations in West Greenville, South Carolina, Clemson University faculty and students are helping to revitalize and refurbish homes in the area. In one project, the university and the Westview Homes Residents Association are working together to landscape areas around the housing development. In a second project with Sun Belt Human Advancement Resources Inc. (SHARE), the university is assisting the organization in projects to purchase dilapidated homes, refurbish them, and then resell them to community members at a reduced price as a way of developing the neighborhood while increasing home ownership among residents.
