Staff-community relationships: working together

Clarion university - PA, Pennsylvania
President: Diane Reinhard

Campuses are small communities with many of the same structures and concerns of the larger cities and towns in which they are situated. In Clarion, Pennsylvania, this serves as reason for the two to work together. For instance, the university shares maintenance equipment with the town s Department of Public Works. And when the university police force holds trainings or public safety seminars, they invite the town s police force to join. As a result, the town and university are able to work together and support one another.

Our commitment is grounded in the notion that higher education's purpose is inextricably linked to the public good. That at its best higher education creates an opportunity to develop global citizen leaders. Pennsylvania Campus Compact is a vibrant organization that offers resources and support to campuses who share this commitment."
