Last spring, Ohio State University held its first open meeting for community members in the local community of Weinland. Seventy citizens met at a settlement house there to brainstorm ways of attacking pressing local concerns. Faculty and graduate students facilitated small group discussions on drugs, health, and employment. Out of these discussions came the idea for a way to foster further community dialogue: print a town newspaper for community building. The new paper is sponsored by the university and written and run by youth from Weinland.
