Support and motivation for faculty new to service-learning

Eastern Michigan University - MI, Michigan

At Eastern Michigan University, faculty new to service-learning join a six-member team of like-minded faculty, providing one another with the support and motivation that make change easier to accomplish. Teams are made up of faculty who have a proposal for a service-learning course, show commitment to service-learning, and have support from their department chairs. Members meet weekly for a semester-long seminar on service-learning. They use this seminar to design a service-learning course that they implement the next semester.
