All students interested in studying education at Brevard Community College must take Introductory Education, which includes a service-learning component. Six service hours spent tutoring children in the Brevard County Public School System supplements time spent observing classrooms and reading and writing about teaching. This brief introductory experience can help avert the problem of students realizing only after it is too late that the real world of teaching is different from what they had imagined.
