The IUPUI Community Service Scholarship Program was recently renamed after the late Sam H. Jones, the CEO of the Indianapolis Urban League to honor his legacy as a community leader. The scholarship program began in 1994 and recognizes IUPUI students for previous service to their high school, campus, or community, and supports their continued involvement in educationally meaningful service, leadership, and social advocacy. As of Fall 2003, 291 students have been awarded over $600,000 in scholarship monies and continued service at over 200 community sites.
