Council on Hispanic Education’s (CHE) literacy programs

Boise State University - ID, Idaho

The Council on Hispanic Education (CHE) at Boise State University dedicates its efforts to reducing the high dropout rate among high school students in Idaho s Hispanic community. CHE runs two literacy programs for Boise residents. One teaches family literacy, with students providing literacy education to parents and their children together. The other, the Young Chicano/Chicana Writers Project teaches writing skills through a focus on meaningful content. Middle and high school students write essays and poetry that celebrate their culture and its traditions and language.
