The Associate Director is very involved in coordinating and shaping a long-standing tutoring program in partnership with a number of West Philadelphia Schools, advising other tutoring and mentoring groups, playing an active role in orientation and training activities, and advising Penn's Alternate Spring Break program, among other duties. In addition to supporting and/or coordinating a number of student-initiated community service programs, the Civic House acts as a "hub" for community service on Penn's campus. Civic House hosts academically-based community service classes, educational programs involving members of the Penn and West Philadelphia communities, and provides space for tutoring and mentoring activities, among a broad range of other programs.

Associate Director of the Civic House, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PE
Much of my work in service-learning and community engagement has come as a result of the many excellent resources and materials generated by Campus Compact. When I first became the Founding Director of CSUSB's CUP [Community-University Partnership Institute], I relied almost exclusively on the resources of Campus Compact in designing, planning, and implementing our actions.
