Bonner Scholars Program Coordinator The Berea College Center for Excellence in Learning Through Service (CELTS), Berea College, Berea, KY

CELTS promotes and coordinates service learning in Berea’s curricular and co-curricular activities, based upon Berea’s distinctive commitments to interracial equality and service to Appalachia. The Bonner Scholars Program selects incoming students based on their scholarship and community service and offers them the opportunity to serve the community through the Labor Program while at Berea College.

The Bonner Scholars Program Coordinator will work with the Bonner Scholars Director on all aspects of the Bonner Scholars Program to create an integrated four-year developmental learning through service experience for 60 Berea College Bonner Scholars.

Specific responsibilities include the:

  • assistance with recruitment and selection of incoming Bonner Scholars;
  • coordination of the freshman Bonner Scholars common labor assignment in an after-school mentoring program for middle-school students, including orientation and on-site supervision;
  • provision of on-going training and reflection opportunities; development publicity including brochures, newsletters, and video;
  • assistance with the creation of community service labor positions;
  • oversight of the Community Learning Agreement process;
  • coordination of the summer service placements.
