Rhode Isand Student Service Summit
Taking the Lead: Social Change Agents for the 21st Century

Friday, February 19, 2010 from 10am - 4pm college students from across Rhode Island will come together for the 2nd annual statewide student summit on community engagement, student leadership, service and service learning. College students have been called upon to provide leadership not only on their campuses but also in Rhode Island communities. The goal of the RI Student Service Summit is for students to inspire and learn from each other and community members and to realize the power of working together towards positive goals for community achievement and change.

Highlights of the Summit include:
* Networking with college students in Rhode Island
* Student - led project presentations
* Breakout groups on Student Leadership
* Community member facilitated discussions on community based leadership

The New England Campus Compact Regional Conference

Higher Education and the Greater Good: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century

The 2010 New England Regional Campus Compact Conference will bring together faculty, staff, administrators, students and community members from New England and beyond to engage in discussions, presentations, workshops and intensive institutes to explore the ability and capacity of higher education to address our institutions' and society's most pressing issues.

The conference will be held on April 14, 2010 in Burlington, Vermont, and will include a keynote address, poster sessions, concurrent workshops and roundtable discussions, networking opportunities and a reception followed by Vermont statewide awards. Pre- conference institutes will be held on April 13, 2010.

Proposals are now being accepted for workshop sessions, roundtable discussions, institutes and poster sessions. Click here for more information and how to apply.

2009- 2010 New England Campus Compact Webinar Series

New England Campus Compact is launching a webinar series beginning November 2009. These high tech webinars are designed to provide a low cost, travel free professional development opportunity to learn from experts on civic and community engagement from our region and across the nation.
The topics will vary to offer each campus several opportunities to engage different administrators, faculty, staff, community partners and students. A New England Campus Compact state office and The University of Massachusetts- Dartmouth will host and provide technical assistance during
each webinar.

Participation will cost $50.00 for each Campus Compact member institution and $100.00 for nonmembers. Registered campuses are encouraged to provide access to the webinar in a space that accommodates several participants and/or include it as a part of a larger learning experience.
